Victory Garden Initiative is a non-profit organization that builds communities who grow their own food as a way of life to create a community-based, ecologically sustainable, socially just and nutritious food system for all. We are a small, dynamic, and rapidly growing organization seeking the right team member to join us in changing Milwaukee’s landscape into a lush, food-producing city.

Position Overview:

Victory Garden Initiative is seeking a passionate and dedicated intern for our Urban Agriculture Internship. This summer internship offers hands-on experience in urban farming, community engagement, and sustainable agriculture. Interns will have the opportunity to work in the heart of Milwaukee’s Harambee neighborhood, gaining practical skills in planting, harvesting, composting, volunteer coordination, and urban farming practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with crop planning, cultivation, and harvesting

  • Support composting and permaculture initiatives

  • Manage small groups of volunteers

  • Engage with the community through farm tours and events

Qualifications:

  • Interest in food systems, sustainable agriculture, and community development

  • Comfortable with physical labor in various weather conditions

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Experience in agriculture, biology, environmental studies, or related fields is a plus
