About Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation:

Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting and empowering students from the greater Milwaukee area by providing financial resources to help them pursue higher education. Through scholarships, community partnerships, and advocacy, we aim to create lasting impacts in the lives of young people who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and commitment to community service. Since 2016, we’ve provided more than $100,000 in scholarships to local students. 

Position Overview:

Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation is seeking dedicated, experienced, and passionate individuals to serve on our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a critical role in guiding the organization towards achieving its mission to encourage all students who have ambitions for higher education by providing an equal opportunity for financial assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance and Oversight:

    • Act in the best interest of the Foundation and ensure it remains compliant with all legal and ethical responsibilities.
    • Provide oversight of financial performance, programs, and strategic direction.
    • Approve annual budgets, review financial statements, and ensure proper risk management procedures are in place.
    • Assist in the expansion of Wisconsin’s Finest Scholarship Foundation and Madison’s Finest Scholarship Program.
  • Strategic Planning and Leadership:

    • Collaborate with fellow board members to set the vision, mission, and long-term goals of the Foundation.
    • Contribute to the development and evaluation of strategic plans and initiatives.
    • Help identify new opportunities for growth and fundraising efforts to support the Foundation’s work.
  • Fundraising and Networking:

    • Support fundraising efforts through personal contributions, solicitation of donations, and cultivation of relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
    • Use personal networks to enhance the visibility and reach of the Foundation and its initiatives.
    • Participate in events and programs that promote the Foundation’s mission. 

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to the mission of Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation and the communities it serves.
  • Previous board experience or leadership in a nonprofit or professional organization is preferred but not required.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not required: education, finance, law, fundraising, marketing, community relations, or event planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for higher education and a desire to make a lasting difference in the lives of Milwaukee’s youth.

Additional Requirements:

  • Attend a minimum of 75% of Board meetings annually (in-person or via virtual attendance).
  • Actively contribute to board discussions, decisions, and initiatives.
  • Be a donor or actively participate in fundraising activities for the Foundation.
