FACILITIES MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT
We are seeking an experienced full-time Facilities Maintenance Assistant. This position performs repair and general maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment, as well as some custodial duties to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment for staff, guests, students and visitors. The primary location for this position is our Central Campus, but this position will be expected to work at both locations as needed.
HIRING RANGE: $21.15-$22.32 based on candidate qualifications and experience
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 1st shift, Monday-Friday
PRIMARY LOCATION: Central Campus – 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform repair or general maintenance work, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and painting
- Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment
- Maintain the grounds, including yard work (utilizing all lawn/ground equipment, including power movers) and snow/ice removal (plowing, snow blowing, shoveling)
- Event setup and tear-down
- Maintain cleanliness (sweep, mop, remove trash, sanitize) and appropriate supplies in offices, chapel, program spaces, classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, and other common areas
- Perform other tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Two or more years previous building maintenance experience required
- Working knowledge of basic maintenance and custodial equipment and supplies, including buffers, scrubbers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, snow blowers, lawn equipment, various hand and power tools
- Must be able to handle physical workload – capable of continuously standing, walking, stair climbing, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as frequent lifting and moving items with a maximum weight of 80lbs a short distance, and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly
- Must be able to work independently, effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, contractors, students, visitors and peers
- A valid driver’s license and good driving record is preferred, but not required
- Reliability, dependability, and punctuality are expected
- A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
- Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
- Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
