COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission is seeking a part-time Communications Assistant. This position is instrumental in promoting the awareness of the Milwaukee Rescue Mission to maximize community engagement and attract supporters. The Communications Assistant will assist in supporting the design, development and launch of strategic digital and traditional marketing and communication materials/content.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 1st shift, Part-time (20 hours/week). Can be flexible with start time and days of week.
LOCATION: Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in all aspects of direct marketing fundraising programs
- Direct Mail and Digital Fundraising (copy editing and review routing, quality control, social media, development of event and marketing materials, etc.)
- Public Relations (monitor emails submitted through “Contact Us” form on website)
- Maintain organization of photo library and direct marketing archives
- Provide support in Graphic Design, Photography and Videography
- Development of event and marketing materials through use of Adobe programs
- Photograph and video record various events and initiatives that take place at all campuses
- Liaison with vendors including account managers, photographers, writers, videographers, etc.
- Assist other departments with various communications, photography, videography
- Department Support
- Assist with projects and tasks as needed
- Create materials and flyers for other department staff, including volunteer flyers and letters
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in communications, marketing or related field strongly preferred
- Prefer a minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in communications and marketing
- Mature Christian with a servant’s heart who is able to relate well with others in a diverse population
- Creative skill set
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills with the capability of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail oriented with excellent organization and follow-through skills
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and community-driven with a positive attitude and readiness to be a flexible team player
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite programs required
- Proficiency with Adobe Publisher or InDesign strongly preferred
- A valid driver’s license and good driving record required
- Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as occasional lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 55lbs a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly.
