Marketing Coordinator (contract)
We are looking for a marketing partner to help tell our story! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about empowering neighborhoods and is early in their Marketing or Communications career, or with extra time on their hands who’s looking for flexible employment.

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial minded individual who wants their work to promote the name of a grassroots organization making strategic, measurable impact. Our programming is both heart-lead and statistic-driven in improving neighborhood wellbeing through social connection and basic food security.
This contractor position will allow someone to be mentored by two local, highly-successful, magnanimous marketing professionals. They will also be collaborating with a team of veteran community leaders. This person would be our first investment into implementing a robust marketing plan for a growing non-profit in Milwaukee and beyond!
Organization overview:
Welcome to the Jim Luther New Hope Center (JLNHC)! We are a community and non-profit based in the Milwaukee South Side that seeks to provide relief for families through nutritionally sound food, resource referral, and personal empowerment. We have a vision of communities that are thriving, neighbors taking care of one another, and individuals who have a new hope.
We seek to accomplish this through our two main programs: Our pantry and our Food Cooperative program. Our choice pantry serves approximately 500 families a month, and provides a much-needed emergency supply of food to families.
Our second program, our food cooperative program, is a more comprehensive approach to hunger. In a community based model with groups of 20 people, we provide families with the majority of their monthly food needs, while providing them with a community of support and resources. The aim is to provide an intensive and intentional support for people to get out of poverty through providing stability, community, and creating a network of support.
The marketing contractor will play a pivotal role in the revitalization of Milwaukee neighborhoods through spreading the word about our programming, promoting the voices of marginalized communities, and emphasizing the impact that our organization is having through our unique approach in community building and food security. The Marketing contractor will be our support in communicating our story, our model, and our vision.
Responsibilities will include:
- Support in content planning, delivery, and development
- Create an annual calendar of social media postings incorporating food security month, holidays, organizational anniversary, and other promotional efforts
- Create newsletter communications for updating and engaging JLNHC audiences
- Interview clients, volunteers, and staff, create story bank of the impact of JLNHC
- Take photos, capture key moments/partners, volunteers, clients (with consent)
- Find creative solutions for promotion in engaging program clients
Requirements:
- Experience using digital media, photography tools, content creation tools, etc.
- Experience with writing newsletters and demonstrates compelling storytelling ability
- Willingness to interact with JLNHC clients regularly
- Has a compassionate and human centered approach
- Bilingual in English-Spanish is preferred
- Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus
This position will be a paid contracted position, with a rate of $15 per hour. Estimated 20 hours of work per week.
Flexible hours and lots of remote work opportunities. Will need availability some weeks to be on site.
