“I Have A Dream” Foundation – Milwaukee (IHDF-MKE) provides individualized social, emotional, and academic support to students from historically marginalized communities from first grade to first job, along with guaranteed post-secondary tuition support.
In 2022 IHDF-MKE launched a new cohort in partnership with the Milwaukee Academy of Science, with an intensive and intentional focus on supporting not only “Dreamers” (youth served by “I Have A Dream” Foundation), but also their families, through intergenerational wrap-around support to help bridge equity and resource gaps, and promote stability, well-being, and thriving.
Position Mission:
To cultivate and steward individual donors, ensuring meaningful engagement and lasting relationships that support the mission and vision of “I Have A Dream” Foundation – Milwaukee (IHDF-MKE).
Overview:
IHDF-MKE is seeking a part-time or contracted Fund Development Manager to drive individual donor development efforts. This role will focus on building a strong base of support from individual contributors by cultivating new relationships and maintaining existing relationships with thoughtful ongoing stewardship. This individual will help execute the activities outlined in a developed calendar of fundraising activity. With an emphasis on relationship building, strategic communication, stewardship, and data-driven decision-making, this position will be integral to advancing IHDF-MKE’s mission to empower Dreamers and their families.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Donor Cultivation:
- Research, identify, engage/strategize engagement of prospective donors, and solicit contributions with an emphasis on expanding the individual donor base.
- Develop tailored cultivation strategies to align donor interests with IHDF-MKE’s mission and programs.
- Create compelling messaging and materials to communicate the impact of donor contributions.
- Support and manage individual donor appeal logistics related to campaigns.
- Coordination of individual donor cultivate strategy and outreach with board and committee members.
Stewardship:
- Foster meaningful connections with existing donors through regular updates, personalized acknowledgments, and opportunities for deeper involvement.
- Lead events, tours, or meetings to engage donors and highlight program impact.
- Support the cultivation and dissemination of stories-of-impact including testimonials and program stories.
- Implement a structured donor stewardship plan to ensure timely follow-up and appreciation.
Data & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate donor records, tracking interactions and contributions in the donor management system.
- Analyze donor data to inform strategy and measure the effectiveness of engagement efforts.
- Provide periodic reports on donor activity and fundraising outcomes.
Collaboration:
- Partner with leadership, team members, and engaged consultants to align donor cultivation efforts with organizational priorities.
- Support additional fund development activities, including annual appeals and targeted campaigns.
- Contribute to grant proposals or special initiatives as needed.
REQUIREMENTS/FIT
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in individual donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build authentic relationships.
- Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g., Little Green Light, Salesforce) is preferred.
- Strategic thinker who can align donor goals with organizational priorities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within a part-time schedule.

OTHER DETAILS
Location:
This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work remotely and attend occasional in-person meetings or events in Milwaukee, WI.
Hours:
4 – 8 hours/week (flexible schedule).
Compensation:
$55 – $70/hour (contracted role)
Contract Term:
A 12-month renewable contract with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
