Job Description

The Executive Director will have the principal responsibility to manage Father Gene’s Help Center (FGHC) and its mission: To provide dignity through free clothing to people in need within the Milwaukee community.  This role involves strategic planning, fundraising, community outreach, and staff management to ensure the organization effectively meets its mission.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

  • Working with the board of directors, provide strategic direction and vision for the organization.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Recruit, train, and manage staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Develop and implement processes that optimize the flow of clothing from intake to the client shopper experience.
  • Monitor and evaluate operations and make adjustments as necessary.

Financial Management:

  • Manage the annual budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and reports through Little Green Light donor software.

Community Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at events and meetings.
  • Advocate for the needs of the population served.

Fundraising Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes annual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
  • Identify and research potential funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, providing regular updates on the organization’s impact and needs.
  • Work closely with the board of directors to align fundraising strategies with the organization’s mission and goals.

Preferred skills & experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, business administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in nonprofit management, program development, and fundraising.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for serving the community and commitment to the mission of FGHC.
  • Able to multitask and manage multiple and often conflicting priorities.
  • Spanish speaker is a requirement.
