The Episcopal Diocese of Wisconsin (DioWis) seeks a talented Assistant Accountant to support our mission of serving parishes across Wisconsin. Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll and Accounting Services: Support the Diocesan Parish Financial Services Program, ensuring accurate payroll and accounting services for participating parishes.
- Annual Financial Reviews: Assist in coordinating and executing the annual financial review process for over 100 parishes across the Diocese.
- Parochial Reports: Compile and analyze data for the annual parochial report submission.
- Customer Service: Provide prompt and professional support to parish leaders and staff regarding financial inquiries, payroll processing, and other accounting-related issues. Build strong relationships by offering excellent service and clear communication.
- Financial Statements & Budgets: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, provide financial analysis, and support parish budgeting processes.
- Ad-Hoc Accounting Projects: Tackle special projects as assigned, offering innovative solutions and insights.
- Analytical Support: Conduct analysis to address financial and operational needs as they arise.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic principles and experience in financial analysis. Putting the why behind the data.
Personal Attributes:
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent drive while understanding the nuance of working with small enterprise accounting systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Nonprofit Accounting Standards or prior experience in the nonprofit sector.
- Deep expertise in QuickBooks Online, including troubleshooting and advanced functionality.
