EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE STATUS: Exempt (Minimum 37.5 hours/week)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Scoliosis Research Society is a non-profit medical professional society that has gained recognition as one of the world’s premier spine societies. The SRS has maintained a commitment to research and education in the field of spinal deformities. Strict membership criteria ensure that individual members support that commitment. SRS membership includes the world’s leading spine surgeons, researchers, physician assistants, and orthotists who are involved in the research and treatment of spinal deformities.
Under the direction of the Senior Education Manager, the Education Manager provides management for abstract selection for IMAST, the SRS Annual Meeting, and TBA Regional Course. This position is also responsible for maintaining the SRS Education Resource Center.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
- Manage abstract submission system for Annual Meeting, IMAST and TBA Regional Course Program; including set-up, the editing process, and working with Annual Meeting Scientific Program and IMAST committees on selection and development of scientific programs.
- Abstract Speaker management for SRS Annual Meeting and IMAST. Including, but not limited to speaker invitation letters, confirmation of participation, permission forms, and upload of necessary materials.
- Manage TBA Regional Course development for 2026. Tentative program largely abstract based.
- Liaise with Senior Meetings Manager on TBA Regional Course planning.
- Work with relevant committee to develop a robust library of materials to supplement educational activities and support the SRS Core Curriculum. Including but not limited to management and oversight of the SRS Education Resource Center development and expansion.
- Assist Senior Education Manager with CME accreditation related tasks as necessary.
- Works with Meetings Team as needed on tasks for two annual conferences, including registration assistance on-site.
- Work with assigned SRS Committees as a Staff Liaison, to include scheduling of regular conference calls, preparation of agendas and minutes, and general communication;
- Other duties as assigned.
AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: (total weeks per year):
One to two weeks per year, including some international. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Experience in working with associations or medical background preferred. Excellent writing and organizational skills, good oral communication skills. Good problem solving and critical thinking skills a must. Ability to work independently but as part of a small, strong team. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move freely around annual meeting site, tolerance for occasional long hours, some packaging and lifting up to 50 pounds.
*This position is located in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
