As the Vice President of Community Engagement, you will serve as a member of the Foundation’s Executive Leadership Team, work collaboratively across multiple departments, and lead the Community Engagement team. This role is responsible for leading, understanding, and curating insights into community needs. The Vice President of Community Engagement will take a leading role in community initiatives, mission focused grants, and leadership for advocacy on important pillars as determined by the Board of Directors.

If you have a bachelor’s degree and/or at least seven years of experience in philanthropic services, development, nonprofit, foundation, or similar environment we want to hear from you! Qualified candidates must have at least five years of experience in providing operational and program leadership in a nonprofit AND five years of experience in supervising a team of people. Supervisory experience in the creation, implementation, and leadership of organizational strategies is required. Please see the detailed job description below.

We offer a flexible and hybrid working environment. Our team currently works in our office at 4455 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton, WI, or remotely in the Fox Valley area. In addition to a flexible working environment, it is important to us to offer a generous benefit package to our team members. Our current package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, 401 (k), paid time off, paid volunteer hours, and professional development. This position is a full-time, benefits eligible position. The salary range starts at $105,500. A start date no later than June 2025 is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Community Engagement is part of the Foundation’s dedicated team of professionals who work together under the core values of integrity, respect, teamwork, stewardship, and belonging to support the strategic direction and mission of the Foundation, strengthening our community for current and future generations by helping people make a difference in the lives of all.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundamental Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key advisor to the President/CEO for all matters relating to community engagement and community issues/opportunities.
  • Lead the Community Engagement team for effective fulfillment of the mission and strategic direction of the Foundation.
  • Lead the Foundation’s understanding of community needs and curate insights for the staff team and key audiences as determined by the Foundation’s strategic direction.
  • Genuinely partner by joining, leading, and/or collaborating, with community partners in initiatives, collective efforts, and projects as the Foundation’s representative. Gather and share insights into Foundation effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership for strategic convenings for stakeholder learning and discussions.
  • Create and/or implement strategic programs to address identified community or regional needs.
  • Lead preparation and delivery of reports to share the Foundation’s impact as a result of its strategic grants and grant programs.
  • Provide counsel and assist Foundation stakeholders to assist in achieving desired results and impact from grant approaches.
  • Develop or oversee workshops and resources for the nonprofit community.
  • Research current issues in strategic philanthropy and grantmaking and disseminate this information when appropriate.
  • Participate actively in Foundation meetings, special events, and/or projects as planned or requested.
  • Represent the Foundation at events and in community ad hoc groups as required or appropriate.
  • Advance the Foundation’s community engagement strategies that achieve Foundation goals and build the reputation and brand.
  • Foster and grow the Foundation’s outreach to community groups to advance the mission.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and/or at least seven years of equivalent experience in philanthropic services, development, nonprofit, foundation, or similar environment.
  • Minimum of five years of experience providing operational and program leadership in a nonprofit environment or related experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience supervising a team of people.
  • Supervisory experience in the creation, implementation, and leadership of organizational strategies.
