Job Summary

The Resource Development Intern will support Cathedral Center’s mission by assisting with social media strategies, content creation, event coordination, and data management. The ideal candidate, with an interest in marketing, communications, or a related field, will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit resource development while working with vulnerable populations. All staff and volunteers at the Cathedral Center are expected to communicate professionally and respectfully with vendors, guests, partners, and co-workers. This position will have specific oversight from the Development and Communications Associate. Hours are primarily first shift in office hours.

Job Duties:

The following are key responsibilities of the Resource Development Intern:

  1. Execute social media strategy to drive audience growth in support of CCI’s mission.
  2. Develop compassionate, trauma-informed content for social media and email marketing, collaborating with staff.
  3. Assist with volunteer and in-kind data entry to update records.
  4. Assist in planning and coordinating fundraising or community events.
  5. Create digital collateral such as graphics, flyers, and infographics.
  6. Draft and customize thank you letters for specific occasions.
  7. Support volunteers to address client needs during shifts or with tasks at special events.
  8. Research and report on potential new grant opportunities.
  9. Maintain accuracy and timeliness during donor, volunteer, and promotional events while ensuring confidentiality.
  10. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support effective teamwork within the agency.

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has studied or is interested in growing into one of the following fields: marketing, communications, media, resource development or a related field. Must be detail-oriented, be able to manage multiple projects at once, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Familiarity with vulnerable populations is a plus.

  • Open to learning new skills including but not limited to: planning and assisting with agency events, creating content and customizable correspondence for donors, researching potential grant opportunities.
  • Familiarity with data entry systems, social media platforms and design software.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and manage multiple tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and adapt to changing responsibilities.

This position is open to all qualified internal and external candidates. Internal candidates must have reached six months of continuous employment at the time of application. Candidates must be able to sit, stand, stoop, and walk for extended periods of time, and be able to lift 15 pounds. All staff at are expected to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, and to become familiar with and utilize a trauma-informed approach.
