Guest Experience Associate
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
The Guest Experience Associate (GE) plays a pivotal role at the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum. The Guest Experience team are the first and last touch points for a visit to the museum, so each GE has a powerful impact on the first impression and overall experience Betty Brin Children’s Museum creates for our Guests. To create playful and high-quality experiences Guest Experience Associates, facilitate play activities, support day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures, daily cleaning of the Museum floor and assisting Museum guests with any other customer service needs. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, friendly, and passionate about enriching the lives of children through interactive and educational activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create a positive and memorable experience for all guests by:
- Greeting and welcoming Guests. Provide information about exhibits, programs, and activities.
- Facilitating play within exhibit galleries and with pop-up program experiences.
- Assisting Guests with monthly activity in the Be-A-Maker space with the support of the Education Staff.
- Welcoming field trip students, teachers, and chaperones. Supporting their visit from arrival to departure.
- Cleaning, organizing, and replacing exhibit props. Report any exhibit issues promptly.
- Proactively maintaining the safety and security of guests and exhibits. Implementing and following emergency procedures when necessary.
- Efficiently handling Guest transactions including ticketing, membership sales, cafe purchases, and gift shop purchases. Providing timely information and incisive recommendations through deep familiarity with the options available to guests in each area.
- Collaborating with birthday party host families to create a high quality party experience. Assisting by setting up the party room, welcoming host family, and ensuring Museum policies and procedures are maintained.
- Attending staff meetings and training as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, must be 18 years of age
- At least two years of experience in a customer service role with a demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional service.
- Minimum of one year of experience handling cash and processing credit card transactions.
- Experience with traditional education (classroom, daycare, etc) or informal education (summer camp, children’s theater, etc.) highly preferred
- Ability to pass a background check to ensure the safety of children and other guests.
- Availability to work weekends is required.

- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
- A commitment to punctual attendance, reliable effort, and accountability to the team.
- Positive, can- do attitude, and willing to go above and beyond for all guests.
- Physically able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure in a fast-paced, crowded, and noisy environment especially during peak attendance.
- Passionate about the Museum’s mission
- Working at least one weekend day per week is required.
