Coordinator of Marriage Preparation

The Mary Mother of the Church Pastoral Center, located in St. Francis, is the main office for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The archdiocese covers 10 counties in Southeast Wisconsin and includes almost 200 parishes and over 100 Catholic schools.

We are seeking a part time Coordinator of Marriage Preparation to serve parishes to evangelize, accompany, and form engaged couples for the Sacrament of Matrimony and provide direct programs for engaged enrichment for couples throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up-to-date information on the Marriage and Family Life webpage for engaged couples to learn about the marriage preparation process.
  • Coordinate, plan, and facilitate enrichment programs for engaged couples, including weekend preparation retreats and virtual programs.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteer couples to assist with marriage programs.
  • Collaborate with the Hispanic Ministry Office to ensure continuity between enrichment programs in Spanish and English.
  • Provide input for promotional materials and resources for programs and events.
  • Propose and facilitate additional programs for engaged couples in needed areas not covered in traditional preparation such as budgeting, communication, second marriages or other program needs.
  • Facilitate onboarding for new staff, volunteers, seminarians and clergy in the pastoral guidelines for marriage preparation.
  • Coordinate and conduct Pre-Marital Inventory training for parish staff and volunteers
  • Assist in helping parishes create ongoing formation programs for newly married couples.

Requirements:

  • Catholic in good standing and in a valid marriage (if married) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Catholic Theology or similar required.
  • Parish staff experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience planning and facilitating programs and retreats in a Catholic setting preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of the archdiocese’s pastoral guidelines for marriage and Catholic teaching on Marriage.
  • Skills in budgeting, event planning, word processing, and basic website design.
  • Ability to respond calmly and pastorally in challenging situations.
  • Travel within the archdiocese required. Driver’s license required.
  • Occasional moving of 30-40lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

The position is a part time (20 hours per week) salaried position.
