As a private nonprofit, Friends of the Domes has been supporting the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (the Domes) since 1989. We provide educational and enrichment activities that ensure visitors depart feeling a connection to nature.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Office and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating volunteers and maintaining office operations to support the organization’s overall effectiveness. This role requires strong organizational skills, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Volunteer Coordination (approximately 75%):
- Schedule and communicate with volunteers for programming, special events, and Milwaukee County Parks activities.
- Develop strategies to recruit, retain, and engage volunteers and service-learning students.
- Facilitate volunteer orientations and plan annual volunteer appreciation events.
- Track and report progress toward Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess volunteer program success.
- Maintain an organized volunteer database, ensuring all volunteer information is up-to-date.
- Some evening and weekend availability is required to support volunteer coordination, events, and special programming.
Office Coordination (approximately 25%):
- Maintain office organization and cleanliness, identifying areas for improvement and assisting in streamlining office procedures.
- Oversee office and event supply ordering.
- Provide basic in-office tech support and troubleshooting.
- Manage the customer-facing inbox, ensuring timely communication.
- Contribute to team efforts by proactively assisting where needed.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit work, project management, or office administration preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e.g. mail merges, and Google Workspace.
- Ability to set priorities and adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience working with volunteers, events, or community programs is a plus.
Compensation: $18/hour
Flexible work hours; majority of hours will be on-site.
Some evening and weekend availability required.
