Summary
This position is a member of COA’s Senior Leadership Team responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan that will produce revenue to support the agency’s financial goals, forecast income, and gather donor feedback. This position works directly with the executive director, board of directors, committee members, program directors, and volunteers as well as donors, foundation representatives, community leaders, and other key stakeholders. This position is also involved in agency-level strategic planning and visioning. This is a full-time, year-round position eligible for benefits.

Main Job Responsibilities
Fund Development
Goal: Set and meet annual fundraising goals.
- Direct and implement an impactful annual giving strategy, including annual appeals, special events, major gifts, grants, planned giving, memorial and tribute gifts, foundation and corporate donations, and stewardship.
- Research and identify prospects to ensure effective cultivation and solicitation.
- Translate organizational goals into executable plans with accountable staff and volunteers by defining program or project tasks, milestones, and priorities.
- Utilize databases to plan, implement, and evaluate specific fund development programs and campaigns, ensuring effective management, review, and analysis of donor statistics and information reported.
- Manage and staff a committee of Fund Development and Marketing volunteers responsible for activities associated with the committee.
- Ensure the complete and thorough maintenance of all necessary documentation for timely and accurate recording of fund development activities.
- Stay abreast of current events, news, and trends to integrate into agency relationships and opportunities in the community.
- Responsible for high-level analysis of the constituent prospect pool, strategic prospect development.
- Identify internal prospects from the COA database and external prospects from prospect research.
Public Relations
Goal: Build and maintain an external awareness and favorable image of COA
- Responsible for the implementation of annual marketing and public relations campaigns.
- Coordination of donor newsletters
- Design or review of all agency’s promotional materials
- Assessment of media release and PSAs as needed
- Build relationships with media contacts
- Respond to external media requests.
- Assess the dissemination of information related to agency programs and services with media outlets.
Leadership
Goal: support staff to reach their greatest potential
- Demonstrate a leadership style focusing on communication, coaching, and support but is willing to provide correction appropriately as needed.
- Regularly meet with direct reports, both individually and as a team, and follow performance development system.
- Identify areas of professional development needed and develop, schedule, and facilitate training.
Goal: consistently enforce agency policies and procedures
- Be able to answer questions about policies and procedures
- Communicate details, rationale, and plan of action of agency-wide decisions
Financial
- Develop annual budgets and maintain oversight of such budgets to ensure sound fiscal management.
- Approve invoices in bill monitoring data system weekly by deadline.
- Ensure grant and program reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Other
- Model appropriate behavior at all times. This includes developing and maintaining appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with colleagues, visitors, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings, conferences, trainings, etc. as needed to remain current in industry knowledge.
- Attend COA events to support programs.
- Serve as member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Facilitate the appropriate Board Committees and assist Chairs with organizing and planning committee meetings.
Qualifications
Education/Knowledge/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field, at least seven years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development, preferably with significant foundation, grant, and major gifts experience or a combination of education and experience
- Proven experience in cultivating and soliciting leadership-level annual gifts and experience with the complete donor engagement cycle.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and CRMs (COA currently uses Bloomerang). Ability to pull, analyze, and interpret data, with specific attention to giving trends and donor opportunities.
- Creation and oversight of an annual fund development plan
- Must be at least 23 years old with a valid driver’s license with a driving record and auto insurance meeting COA’s requirements.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
No special physical requirements for this position.
The work environment is mainly an office environment, although the program sites are an active environment with urban youth and families in a variety of settings. This requires the ability to respond quickly to changing situations and be able to move around COA sites as needed. This position also requires occasional evening and weekend work.
