Job Purpose:
Oversees the billing, credentialing and administrative services for outpatient clinics by performing billing and collection activity in accordance with all laws, regulations, and policies; submitting and maintaining credentialing requirements for all therapists, and providing administrative supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees and supports financial files by accurately advising, informing and assisting the patients/guarantor/family in regard to agency financial policies in conjunction with third party billing agency.
- Plans and supervises the billing and collection operations by ensuring accurate data input into the EMR for billing of insurance companies, collecting payments, cash posting, managing account payments and working with denials; initiating contact with third-party payers; tracking the payment progress and ensuring that the collection follow-up is sufficiently documented by working with the third-party billing agency.
- Ensures agency compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, Including HIPPA by assisting third party billing agency in preparing claims, submissions, and following up in line with HIPAA obligations.
- Ensures proper credentialing of Therapists by submitting new credentialing applications for therapists; monitoring and maintaining credentialing requirements for all therapists; completing ongoing documentation needs for continued credentialing with each insurance company.
- Oversees and supports administrative functions by answering phone calls; scheduling and rescheduling appointments of new and ongoing clients, oversee management of client files
- Manages Environment by ensuring that the physical environment of the work area is monitored for cleanliness, attractive appearance, and reporting all deficiencies.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by completing required trainings; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Maintain staff job results by training and coaching staff, establishing staff goals, monitoring progress, and providing feedback, appraising job results.
- Protects the credibility of the Rawhide mission by complying with the Rawhide standard of conduct; setting an example, in words and actions, that is consistent with the values and beliefs of Rawhide.
- Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as directed or assigned by supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversees accurate completion of all billing and collection activity, ensuring timely submission of claims
- Verbal and written communication with patients, co-workers, physicians, other health professionals and visitors
- Ensures all services are in compliance with federal/state requirements
- Completes ongoing documentation for credentialing therapists
- Provides supervision to outpatient administrative team
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum, Associates Degree in Medical Billing or Coding, or similar field
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team orientation
- Experience in billing, coding, and work with insurances in a mental health or medical setting
- Possess a working knowledge of coding principles, billing, posting and adjudication of claims
- Demonstrated experience in medical coding and billing
- Professional verbal and written communication skills that are concise and promotes timely facilitation
- Possess ownership and a results orientation in all essential job functions and responsibilities
- Ability to work independently toward the set collection target, as well as willingness to work collaboratively towards department goals
