PARENT ENGAGEMENT OUTREACH COORDINATOR
The Black Child Development Institute of Wisconsin (BCDI-Wisconsin) is seeking a self-motivated, Parent Engagement Outreach Coordinator. Under the leadership of the Executive Director, the Parent Engagement Outreach Coordinator implements programs and activities to ensure parents are actively engaged with BCDI-Wisconsin to benefit from everything the organization has to offer. The primary objective is to support our grant with Healthy Start for Growing Families a program with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) information and opportunities to authentically integrate and strengthen parent involvement to expand their child’s opportunities, as well as their own, for continued learning and development that aides their overall wellbeing in areas that align with BCDI-Wisconsin areas of focus.

The Black Child Development Institute-Wisconsin (BCDI-Wisconsin) is a vital organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Black children and families. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of Black children, from birth through age eight. We focus on their unique attributes and needs, advocating for equitable opportunities and justice. We are the proud Wisconsin affiliate of the National Black Child Development Institute, with 50 years of success, having its headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with BCDI-Wisconsin staff and volunteers to develop a comprehensive parent and family engagement approach that may consist of workshops, classes and activities for parents; helps to conduct effective information sessions and on-going parent engagement sessions to support positive program outcomes, provides training, coaching, modeling and technical assistance relating to parental involvement strategies.
- Coordinates and implements research-based strategies to support parent engagement; collaborates with BCDI-Wisconsin staff, community-based partners maintain a family-friendly culture; collaborates with other parent engagement professionals at local schools and community organizations.
- Coordinates and provides direct outreach to parents, and community members to champion authentic parent engagement.
- Coordinates with other community-based partners to strengthen alignment of resources to maximize impact
- Keeps excellent records of all parent involvement activities, reports, surveys, funding, annual program evaluations, and communications to parents. Effectively meets all program deliverables to meet all reporting deadlines.
- Works with BCDI-Wisconsin staff and parents to ensure that all program-related consents and evaluation tools are submitted; reviews annual reports to evaluate the effectiveness of parent involvement programs; develops, analyzes and distributes results of surveys to staff and/or Board of Directors to strengthen programs.
Education/Experience/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, child development, public health or related field, preferred. We will also consider an Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. Requires 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience serving as an advocate for children and parents
- Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Self-motivated; can work independently as well as part of team. Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of family engagement research and literature
- Understands and respects the diversity of families’ economic, social, and cultural backgrounds and situations
- Experience developing collaborative partners and building relationships with constituents in the community (including schools, businesses and community-based organizations)
- Understanding of infant and child growth, elementary student achievement data, and social emotional development
- Ability to effectively engage school, community and civic leaders
- Ability to develop and conduct trainings with community organizations and schools to share best practices that support program goals
- Ability to develop and manage budgets and mobilize resources to support program goals
- Must have personal vehicle with acceptable auto insurance, ability to pass required background check and verifications,
Skills/Abilities
- Experience and comfort working with diverse populations
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Knowledge of social service or education programs
- Effective time management, organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint), as well as social media sites

This job operates in a professional office environment, and also works with the public in community settings. All BCDI-Wisconsin employees must be fully vaccinated or approved for a medical or religious exemption. Local travel to community organizations, businesses or schools may be required.
COMPENSATION: Exempt, full-time, salaried position with annual compensation range of $40,000 to $55,000, based upon education and experience. Incentive compensation also available.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Flexible Office Hours: Monday to Friday.
- Evenings and Weekends (based upon community engagement activities)

WORK LOCATION: BCDI-WICSONSIN Headquarters, 500 West Silver Spring Drive, Suite K360, Glendale, WI. Onsite, full-time, Monday – Friday, with flexible hours. Occasional travel to Racine, WI area to support broader community engagement.
