Project RETURN Resident Manager

General Summary

Project RETURN (Returning Ex-incarcerated People To Urban Realities ​and Neighborhoods) exists to help individuals who have experienced incarceration make a positive, permanent return to community, family and friends. We are looking for a live-in Residential Manager to oversee Project RETURN’s new residential units at St. Anthony’s. Our 12-unit housing program is for adult men who are returning from incarceration, with the ultimate goal of helping participants transition to permanent housing within 6-12 months. The primary responsibilities are to oversee the residents during non-business and weekend hours. The Residential Manager (RM) will live at St. Anthony’s, on a separate floor from the Project RETURN (PR) residents, in an apartment paid for by PR. Our ideal applicant has lived experience with homelessness after incarceration and/or experience in providing direct care or support to individuals with mental health or severe substance abuse issues.

Principle Responsibilities

The Resident Manager role is to maintain a healthy and safe residential environment for all of Project RETURN’s residents at St. Anthony’s. The RM is responsible for providing direct supervision to the residents during weekend and other non-business hours. The RM will ensure the general well-being of the residents and enforce PR’s policies and procedures.

Duties

The RM must live onsite. The RM may have additional employment elsewhere but not during the weekend or during the non-business hours of 6pm-8am, Mon-Fri.

The RM plays a crucial role in managing daily operations and in ensuring the well-being of residents when the PR office is closed.

The RM will report to the Housing Director (HD). He will work closely with the HD and Case Managers.

The RM is responsible for aiding in the day-to-day operations for things such as:

  • Enforcing the community’s policies and procedures
  • Reporting residents’ positive and negative behavior to Case Managers and the HD
  • Responding to maintenance issues
  • Overseeing residents’ activity and recreational schedules
  • Coordinating residents’ volunteer tasks on and around the property
  • Responding constructively to the safety and well-being concerns of residents
  • Responding to facility emergencies and contacting all required parties
  • Assisting in coordinating move-ins and move-outs
  • Inspecting units
  • Preparing units for incoming residents, which could include doing minor repairs and painting.
  • Other tasks fitting with the mission of Project RETURN as assigned by Executive Director or Housing Director

Required skills

  • Basic computer skills for preparing clear, accurate and concise records and reports
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to engage confidently with a challenging residential group
  • Strick adherence to residents’ confidentiality
  • Good comfort level with general household maintenance

Every employee is given the Personnel Policies which defines the uniform expectations of employed personnel at Project RETURN. The above are responsibilities specific to this job.
