About Wisconsin Civic Power Table 

The Wisconsin Civic Power Table (WCPT) is a 501(C)(3) fiscally-sponsored organization and the Wisconsin affiliate of the State Voices network. WCPT convenes a community of over 60 partners, providing support, accountability, and cohesive strategy to build collective and well-organized power. Specifically, WCPT provides capacity, grants, data, tools, and coordination to help its partners create a healthy and thriving democracy through a racial equity lens. WCPT and its partners promote civic engagement, access, and representation through a variety of methods, including: voter education, registration, and mobilization; issue advocacy, base building, community organizing, communications, and litigation. Position Overview 

Data is one of the most important and powerful ways we support grassroots organizing and social change in the states. The Data Director is a key leadership position guiding shared strategy for WCPT and our diverse set of partners. The person in this position is responsible for providing data-driven recommendations to inform collective planning, field targeting, and opportunities to strengthen data integrity across multiple partner programs. The Data Director will be supervised by the Deputy Director.

Principal Responsibilities for the Data Director include: 

Data Strategy and Table Support 

  • Building on the data foundations in VAN, identify additional data sources that will support and strengthen the collective work of the table.
  • Conduct timely and relevant analyses that will inform table and partner plans, including specialized requests about election, Census, and other data sets.
  • Develop and lead data strategies that enhance the coalition’s goals, coming up with innovative ideas and actionable plans to build and optimize our work.
  • Identify and champion opportunities to conduct tests and experiments that will bolster the table’s plans and work with staff and partners to execute these opportunities.
  • Develop quality control processes to ensure data integrity.

VAN & Tools Management 

  • Seek out new tools and applications to enhance the work of the table and partner organizations.
  •  Oversee VAN administration systems & compliance for data staff, partner organizations and their consultants, including the MOU process.
  • Provide support with administration of VAN and other field tools, including technical assistance, and monitoring the use of the system to ensure compliance with state and national policies.

Coordinating with National and State-based data staff 

  • Function as part of a national data peer network, which includes regular calls and trainings with State Voices national data team to help maintain a shared data infrastructure across the states
  •  Participate in national working groups to develop nation-wide standards and best practices.
  •  Manage relationships across different coalition partners
  • Potential to manage other data staff and ther duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills: The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Proven history of administering multiple data projects or programs in a progressive space
  • Advanced experience with VAN and familiarity with other online advocacy tools and CRMs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Experience working in coalition and managing relationships and expectations with vendors and partners.
  • Aptitude for systems thinking and manipulating large data sets to draft cohesive field plans.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial and gender equity and record of success working with communities of color, women, low-income people, LGBTQIA individuals, and other historically marginalized communities.
  • Experience with or knowledge of data management, database administration, reporting and analysis, and/or digital organizing tools is preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of software for mapping (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.), reporting (Periscope, Tableau, etc.), and data management (Access, SQL, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff
  • Experience working on budgets and/or grant proposals is a plus.

Compensation: Compensation is $75,000 – $90,000 and includes a full benefits package. The Wisconsin Civic Power Table provides a full benefits package that supports the employees’ well-being, financial security, and familial needs.

Location: Remote. Preference will be given to those with familiarity of the Wisconsin political landscape.
