POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full time position responsible for the coordination, logistics and operation of the RISE Drug Free MKE coalition and its programs. RISE Drug Free MKE is a county-wide coalition that focuses on raising awareness on substance (mis)use, and, through inclusive education, elevates our entire community, from our youth to our elders, out of the harms caused by substance (mis)use.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for executing the activities outlined within the RISE Drug Free MKE strategic plan and logic model.
- Coordinates logistics for all RISE Drug Free MKE coalition and executive committee meetings, including preparation of meeting materials.
- Facilitates ongoing communication with RISE Drug Free MKE Coalition members including maintaining a listserv.
- Coordinates design and layout of all information dissemination and outreach at resource fairs and community events.
- Ensures attendance and materials distributed at outreach events are properly tracked.
- Coordinates educational presentations for coalition membership, and community stakeholders and members.
- Communicates with funders and/or stakeholders to keep them informed of program work and outcomes.
- Coordinates Annual RISE Drug Free MKE Coalition recognition event.
- Participates in the planning of the annual Overdose Awareness Day event.
- Establishes good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve program goals.
- Represents RISE Drug Free MKE at community meetings that correlate to funding source including Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Services (BHS) and MC3 meetings.
- Responsible for quarterly and annually reporting and entering of SAP-SIS demographic data.
- Manages the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of coalition projects.
- Assess the membership of the coalition for capacity to impact substance use/misuse prevention.
- Enhance leadership skills of the coalition Executive Committee and workgroups..
- Increase the coalition’s internal capacity:
- To prevent youth alcohol and marijuana use
- Increase the perception of risk or harm of alcohol and community disapproval of youth alcohol use by providing information
- Increase perception of risk or harm of other drugs and community disapproval of other drugs use by providing information and building awareness of the issue
- Increase positive perceptions of mental health wellbeing by providing information and building awareness on the issue
- Works with communications team to provide content for RISE Drug Free MKE social media pages.
- Works with the Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator to ensure alignment between coalition activities and mental health and wellness focus.
- Collaborate with other PPI prevention staff around overlapping drug prevention initiatives, training opportunities, etc.
- Attend all Public Policy Institute staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; a background in community organizing or public health considered a plus
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and facilitate meetings
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook necessary
- Able to operate virtually and in-person
- Prior experience with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic
- Skilled in outreach, relationship building and conflict resolution
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of written or verbal information
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive and transport equipment to various site
SPECIAL CONDITIONS/TRAVEL:
Normal working hours for this position are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may also be required. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, able to set up and take down outreach and event tabling displays. Roughly 25% of the time driving will be required for this position. Opportunities for travel to local and national conferences exist.
SALARY RANGE: $42,000 – $47,000 annually.
