The Episcopal Diocese of Wisconsin (DioWis) seeks a talented Assistant Accountant to support our mission of serving parishes across Wisconsin. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled accounting professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a faith-based nonprofit organization. Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll and Accounting Services: Support the Diocesan Parish Financial Services Program, ensuring accurate payroll and accounting services for participating parishes.
  • Annual Financial Reviews: Assist in coordinating and executing the annual financial review process for over 100 parishes across the Diocese.
  • Parochial Reports: Compile and analyze data for the annual parochial report submission.
  • Customer Service: Provide prompt and professional support to parish leaders and staff regarding financial inquiries, payroll processing, and other accounting-related issues. Build strong relationships by offering excellent service and clear communication.
  • Financial Statements & Budgets: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, provide financial analysis, and support parish budgeting processes.
  • Ad-Hoc Accounting Projects: Tackle special projects as assigned, offering innovative solutions and insights.
  • Analytical Support: Conduct analysis to address financial and operational needs as they arise.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic principles and experience in financial analysis. Putting the why behind the data.

Personal Attributes:

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Independent drive while understanding the nuance of working with small enterprise accounting systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Nonprofit Accounting Standards or prior experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Deep expertise in QuickBooks Online, including troubleshooting and advanced functionality.
