Board Excellence Workshop for Staffed Nonprofits
Maryland Nonprofits is offering “Board Excellence Workshop for Staffed Nonprofits”:
“Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Workshop is an interactive program that covers the most important aspects of board operations. Participants will leave with clarity about the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors as a governing body and the roles of staff members versus board members.
Participants will explore:
- What it means to be legal and socially accountable
- Principles of sound financial oversight
- The board’s role in fundraising
- The role of the board as ’employer’
- Board conduct and how to develop a well-rounded, effective board of directors
This is an interactive program. Participants are encouraged to log into the Zoom meeting 10 minutes prior to the program to ensure a good connection and to greet each other. Participants will be encouraged to keep their cameras on for the duration of the program.
Class Materials: Each participant will receive Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Handbook (a $25 value), which will be shipped in the mail prior to the course date. Therefore, registration for this program will close on January 6. To change your registration details, contact learning@mdnonprofit.org with any registration changes by this date. Books that must be shipped twice due to an incorrect address can be mailed to you for an additional fee of $30.
Who Should Attend:
Board Excellence is suitable for organizations big and small, regardless of mission focus. This program is most appropriate for organizations with paid staff. To get the maximum benefit, we strongly encourage at least two board members and one senior-level staff member register to participate. Staff members are discouraged from attending without a board member. Up to 4 participants per organization may register. A Board Excellence Workshop for All-Volunteer Nonprofits will next be held on February 1, 2022.”
