About this Event
To have good, strong programs you have to have a good, strong organization. To have a good ,strong organization, you have to have administration and governance that are effective, and efficient. All too often we ignore this part of our work until it is too late.
Before you run out and hire a consultant, or go for a grant, take the time to learn what you have. What is working, and what might need some attention? Are you happy with your financial sustainability? Do you know how to measure that? Is your board effective as a partner? Does your board know how to be a partner?
To get at these and other questions we need a lens to look at the organization, a shared and accepted baseline of knowledge. For that we are using the Standards for Excellence, a nationally recognized ethics and accountability code for the nonprofit sector.
In this first of a 3-part webinar series, we will help you look at
- Mission, Strategy, and Evaluation – How strong is your mission statement, and are your programs effectively delivering on that mission? How do you know?
- Legal Compliance and Ethics – To earn the public’s trust, your nonprofit has to be in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Do you know if you are? Do you have all of the policies you need? Do you know what they are?
Rob Meiksins and Martha Collins, co-founders of the Nonprofit Academy of Wisconsin and licensed consultants with the Standards for Excellence will walk you through these two sections of the code. You will hear about the guiding principles, and the specific benchmarks in the code, and then you can apply them to your organization and see how you are doing.
To help with that part of this process, you will have access to an assessment tool to measure how you are doing. Based on that, you will know what is working and where you might want to pay some attention.
If you complete all three webinars and all three segments of the assessment tool, you will receive a free hour-long consultation to help you make sense of the results and build a capacity-building plan. You will also receive a refund, equivalent to 20% of the cost of the webinar series.”
